1. What is E-commerce?

Electronic commerce , commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, consists of the buying and selling of products or service over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. The amount of trade conducted electronically has grown extraordinarily since the spread of the Internet. A wide variety of commerce is conducted in this way, spurring and drawing on innovations in electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems. Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web at least at some point in the transaction's lifecycle, although it can encompass a wider range of technologies such as e-mail as well.

A large percentage of electronic commerce is conducted entirely electronically for virtual items such as access to premium content on a website, but most electronic commerce involves the transportation of physical items in some way. Online retailers are sometimes known as e-tailers and online retail is sometimes known as e-tail. Almost all big retailers have electronic commerce presence on the World Wide Web.

Electronic commerce that is conducted between businesses is referred to as Business-to-business or B2B. B2B can be open to all interested parties (e.g. commodity exchange) or limited to specific, pre-qualified participants (private electronic market).

Electronic commerce is generally considered to be the sales aspect of e-business. It also consists of the exchange of data to facilitate the financing and payment aspects of the business transactions.

Simply put, e-commerce is the online transaction of business, featuring linked computer systems of the vendor, host, and buyer. Electronic transactions involve the transfer of ownership or rights to use a good or service. Most people are familiar with business-to-consumer electronic business (B2C). Common illustrations include Amazon.com, llbean.com, CompUSA.com, travelocity.com, and hotels.com.

E-commerce, (electronic commerce), is online commerce verses real-world commerce. E-commerce includes retail shopping, banking, stocks and bonds trading, auctions, real estate transactions, airline booking, movie rentals—nearly anything you can imagine in the real world. Even personal services such as hair and nail salons can benefit from e-commercee-commercee-commerce by providing a website for the sale of related health and beauty products, normally available to local customers exclusively.

Ecommerce (e-commerce) or electronic commerce, a subset of ebusiness, is the purchasing, selling, and exchanging of goods and services over computer networks (such as the Internet) through which transactions or terms of sale are performed electronically. Contrary to popular belief, ecommerce is not just on the Web. In fact, ecommerce was alive and well in business to business transactions before the Web back in the 70s via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) through VANs (Value-Added Networks). Ecommerce can be broken into four main categories: B2B, B2C, C2B, and C2C.

2. Different Types of E-commerce

  • B2B (Business-to-Business)
Companies doing business with each other such as manufacturers selling to distributors and wholesalers selling to retailers. Pricing is based on quantity of order and is often negotiable.

  • B2C (Business-to-Consumer)
Businesses selling to the general public typically through catalogs utilizing shopping cart software. By dollar volume, B2B takes the prize, however B2C is really what the average Joe has in mind with regards to ecommerce as a whole.

Having a hard time finding a book? Need to purchase a custom, high-end computer system? How about a first class, all-inclusive trip to a tropical island? With the advent ecommerce, all three things can be purchased literally in minutes without human interaction. Oh how far we've come!

  • C2B (Consumer-to-Business)
A consumer posts his project with a set budget online and within hours companies review the consumer's requirements and bid on the project. The consumer reviews the bids and selects the company that will complete the project. Elance empowers consumers around the world by providing the meeting ground and platform for such transactions.

  • C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer)
There are many sites offering free classifieds, auctions, and forums where individuals can buy and sell thanks to online payment systems like PayPal where people can send and receive money online with ease. eBay's auction service is a great example of where person-to-person transactions take place everyday since 1995.

Companies using internal networks to offer their employees products and services online--not necessarily online on the Web--are engaging in B2E (Business-to-Employee) ecommerce.

G2G (Government-to-Government), G2E (Government-to-Employee), G2B (Government-to-Business), B2G (Business-to-Government), G2C (Government-to-Citizen), C2G (Citizen-to-Government) are other forms of ecommerce that involve transactions with the government--from procurement to filing taxes to business registrations to renewing licenses. There are other categories of ecommerce out there, but they tend to be superfluous.

3. Difference Between E-commerce and E-business

First e-commerce is a business transaction (buying or selling) on a secure link over the Internet. It only entails your company and the ultimate buyer (your customer). Not much else is done in a typical e-commerce transaction. You are simply using the Web and it's resources to effectively conduct and execute a business transaction. With the advent of e-Business modularized applications and tools developed by the Center, you are really completely transforming your company from a traditional company to a new e-Business enabled company. Here just a partial list of your main features and benefits:

1- Sharply reduced costs of doing business.
    2- Better and improved ROI.
3- Better service to all your customers.
4- Increased visibility among your competition.
5- Better TTM (Timing to Market).
    6- Official B2B designation.
7- More options to your buying customers.
8- You can deal more effectively with your suppliers.
9- Better marketing advantage than your competition.

The term e-commerce and e-business may sound same but technically they are different. Many people assume that ecommerce and ebusiness are same. Read the following to clear the misconception

In both the cases the letter ‘e’ indicates electronic which includes internet and EDI (electronic data interchange) to improve business processes.

Ecommerce is narrower than ebusiness. It is a subset of ebusiness. Whereas Ebusiness is very broader, it refers to using of the internet technologies to conduct business which in return provides the great impact in the overall business process.

Ecommerce refers to the using of internet for Online Shopping i.e. to buy a product or service. For Example: Ecommerce occurs when a customer orders a ticket or book or gifts or any tangible or intangible product through internet. It occurs when an organization or individual pay money to another organization or individual via internet.

The term Ebusiness is covers all the areas of business. Ebusiness occurs when a company or individual communicate with their clients or customers or suppliers through email. Marketing done through Internet, Sell Products or Services through internet, Use internet to conduct market research, use internet to hire people, use internet for product or service promotion etc.

Ebusiness goes far beyond ecommerce or buying and selling over the Internet, and deep into the processes and cultures of an enterprise. It is the powerful business environment that is created when you connect critical business systems directly to customers, employees, vendors, and business partners, using Intranets, Extranets, ecommerce technologies, collaborative applications, and the Web. Dell Computer gets a lot of attention as a pioneering ebusiness today and is the best example of this form of business. It sells $ 15m worth of computers from its websites each day. The company has created a ‘fully integrated value chain ’ – a three-way information partnership with its suppliers and customers by treating them as collaborators who together find ways of improving efficiency across the entire chain of supply and demand.

E-commerce can be divided into:

  • E-tailing or "virtual storefronts" on Web sites with online catalogs, sometimes gathered into a "virtual mall"
  • The gathering and use of demographic data through Web contacts
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the business-to-business exchange of data
e-mail and fax and their use as media for reaching prospects and established customers (for example, with newsletters)
  • Business-to-business buying and selling (B2B)

E-commerce, (electronic commerce), is online commerce verses real-world commerce. E-commerceE-commerceE-commerce includes retail shopping, banking, stocks and bonds trading, auctions, real estate transactions, airline booking, movie rentals—nearly anything you can imagine in the real world. Even personal services such as hair and nail salons can benefit from e-commercee-commercee-commerce by providing a website for the sale of related health and beauty products, normally available to local customers exclusively.

While e-commercee-commercee-commerce once required an expensive interface and personal security certificate, this is no longer the case. Virtual storefronts are offered by a variety of hosting services and large Internet presences such as eBay and Yahoo!, which offer turnkey solutions to vendors with little or no online experience. Tools for running successful e-commercee-commercee-commerce websites are built into the hosting servers, eliminating the need for the individual merchant to redesign the wheel. These tools include benefits like shopping carts, inventory and sales logs, and the ability to accept a variety of payment options including secure credit card transactions.

Though early e-commercee-commercee-commerce was stunted by security fears, improved technology has made millions of people worldwide feel comfortable buying online. Seeing the vast potential in e-commercee-commercee-commerce, most credit card companies helped allay fears by guaranteeing cardholders would not be held responsible for fraudulent charges as a result of online shopping. All of these factors have helped e-commercee-commercee-commerce become the booming industry it is today.

The growing popularity of e-commercee-commercee-commerce is understandable considering the time and hassle involved in running from store to store, searching for an item in the real world. It not only takes valuable time and energy, but gasoline. With today’s crowded cities and high gas prices, shopping online whenever the mood strikes—even in the middle of the night—has unarguable, unbeatable advantages. Not only is it convenient to shop at a myriad of vendors from the comfort of your computer chair, it’s also a snap to find the best deal by allowing sites like PriceGrabber and Froogle sift through hundreds of sellers for you.

E-commerceE-commerceE-commerce also has other advantages. Employee overhead is virtually nonexistent, and the yearly fee for an e-commercee-commercee-commerce website is nominal. Compare this to rental of storefront property, particularly in a busy mall. To top it off, most transactions are handled by software processes, never requiring a real person until the item is ready to be packed and shipped. This translates into real savings to the customer. As a result, real world businesses often cannot compete with their e-commercee-commercee-commerce counterparts, though one does have to watch for inflated shipping fees that might negate savings.

If you’ve been reticent to jump into the world of e-commercee-commercee-commerce head first, you might find your trepidations no longer founded. There are only a few simple rules when buying online. First, check to see that the seller is credible by referring to a site like ResellerRatings.com, and then read the site’s return and privacy policies. Also, never hand over personal information unless the website is operating through a secure server. You can identify a secure server by the address beginning with https, rather than http. The “s” means the information flowing between your computer and the website will be securely encrypted.

Mary Parker Follett (1868–1933), although trained in philosophy and political science, shifted her interests to vocational guidance, adult education, and social psychology. These led to her lifetime pursuit of developing a new managerial philosophy that would incorporate an understanding of the motivating desires of the individual and the group. She emphasized that workers on the job were motivated by the same forces that influenced their duties and pleasures away from the job and that the manager's role was to coordinate and facilitate group efforts, not to force and drive workers. Because of her emphasis on the group concept, the words "togetherness" and "group thinking" entered the managerial vocabulary.

Sabi nila, "It's not the student's fault if
he fails in
his subjects."

Bakit naman? Sagot nila, "Because the year only
has 365 days."

And when you take these factors/things into
consideration....

1. Sundays - 52 Sundays in a year. Sunday is
rest day. Therefore...

Days left: 313

2. Summer - 50 days of very hot weather. Mahirap
daw mag-aral kapag mainit. At tsaka, di naman
talaga kasama sa school calendar ang summer
dahil vacation period 'yon.

Days left: 263

3. Sleep - Kailangan ng 8 hours araw-araw, hindi
ba? Calculate, this equals to 130 days.

Days left: 141

4. Relaxation - Kailangan mo ng isang oras per
day, sabi nila. Good for health. That means 15
days.

Days left: 126.

5. Pagkain - tatlong meals, snacktime, 2 hours
estimate para doon. Syempre, dapat chew
properly. Bilangin mo, equals to 30 days.

Days left: 96.

6. Chit-Chat - "Man is a social animal". So, sabihin
na nating isang oras per araw kang nakikipang-
chikahan. That means 15 days.

Days left: 81.

7. Exams - per year, mga 35 exam days.

Days left: 46.

8. Festivals/holidays/araw para sa RALLY o MOB -
37 days.

Balance: 9 days.

9. Illness - Nagkakasakit ka rin naman minsan,
hindi ba? Sabihin na nating apat na araw kada
taon.

Remaining days: 5.

10. Organization - Syempre may mga organization
activities pa. So 4 na araw
para dun, sabihin natin.

1 day left.

11. Tapos, that 1 day is your birthday. how can
you study on that day?

Natitirang araw: 0, nill, nada, none

Thesis Sentence: Children’s views on gender and racial stereotyping are affected when one has long exposure on video games.
I. Concerns about video games
A. Racial Stereotyping
B. Gender Stereotyping

The word stereotyping means you see an instant picture of a person or a group of people (Cornish, 2003). This stereotype is often based on misinformation or incorrect attitudes or opinions that are often used in media like television shows, cartoons and even video games. Two of the concerns of video games’ effect on children are related to stereotyping, mainly gender and racial. A report released by the Kaiser Family Foundation (1999) revealed that many children not only have access to home gaming systems, but also spend at least some time every day playing such interactive technology. With their exposure on these games, it is reasonable to say that with what is repeatedly implanted on children’s’ minds, will stay on their mind and live it out on their own life.
While people from many different cultures play video games, that variety is not usually shown in the games themselves. White males dominate the most popular games while non-whites play the role of the villain or the sidekick. A study made by Children Now (2001) “found that depictions of African American, Asian, Hispanic and Native American males were rare and white female characters outnumbered female characters of every racial group …The interactivity of video games makes them a powerful medium for the negative messages that stereotypes can convey” (Media Awareness Network).
Video Games affect children’s view on gender stereotyping by promoting unrealistic body images and characteristics. Most video games are designed by males, for males. And as a result most video games contain negative things about females. When a child is exposed to these things, he/she may receive unhealthy messages, and these messages can be brought until he grows old. Mostly female characters are portrayed to be “sex material” in many video games that is why children, especially male children, see and treats women as low as this. In many video games, the physical appearance of a female is exaggerated to attract the attention of males causing players to think that all female should look like the ones in video games. Video games also combine violence with sexual content. In a game called Duke Nukem 3D, a male shooter uses pornography posters for target practice and is awarded bonus points when a player kills naked, bound prostitutes that plead “kill me”. These video games influences and corrupts the minds of young people through images that are unrealistic. We are aware of it but we still let these things govern us.
